While I have never had bad skin, when it gets bad, it gets really bad. When I moved to Charleston, I decided to put my skin under the care of a dermatologist that also has an in-house esthetician and they are amazing. They were one of the highest rated in the area, but I was completely sold when I walked in and discovered they sold my favorite skin care lines ZO Skin Health and Elta MD.
This stuff is incredible at removing make up while not being super oily. I actually used baby oil for a number of years (it really works of you’re on a budget or just need something cheap for travel), but it’s not the best for your face. This is a balm in a small tub which you rub on your face and then rinse off. And it’s really good for your skin.
I was first introduced to Dr. Obagi’s skin care line at a spa in Raleigh, NC, but upon moving to Charleston and finding a new dermatologist, I was informed that Dr. Obagi had sold his old skin care line, and created a new and improved line. And it really is amazing! I use the Gentle Cleanser every night after removing my make up, along with my Clarisonic brush.
EltaMD makes an incredible facial sun screen that actually moisturizes as well. I don’t even need a moisturizer when I use this. I obviously use sunscreen regularly living in Charleston, but everyone should every day. Especially on your face. No excuses for wrinkles if you aren’t taking care of your skin. And this is a great one!
I love my Clarisonic brush. I absolutely cannot do without it. As I said above, I don’t have any major skin problems, but no matter what face wash I use (when I have tried new things) they always worked better when I used my Clarisonic brush. I actually did a study abroad for a month and decided to leave it behind because it was only a month. By my second full day in Europe I was desperate and realized leaving it behind was a huge mistake. I ran to a department store and purchased a new one.
I first got this idea at a hotel when there was a specific black washcloth with the word makeup embroidered on it. How genius! Makeup is going to mess up your white washcloths, especially if you use the same one a few times. So I decided to invest in a few myself and keep them hidden under the sink along with my headband for when I wash my face. I actually found a set on Amazon and absolutely love them. I use them 2 or 3 times and then toss them in to wash! Super easy!
