Friday Five: Trends

Fashion

I’ve mentioned repeatedly (here and here) that I am not a trendy person. I love following fashionista Instagram and blogs, but it just isn’t my thing, and that’s ok. But that doesn’t mean I don’t find a few trends to love each year. For my Friday Five this week, five trends I am super excited about.

Pastels

In Charleston especially, I am all about pastels. Charleston has been blooming since February and the entire city is bathed in pastels and it is so inspiring (not to mention rainbow of painted houses which just begin with Rainbow Row).

I love light blue this season, especially in small stripes like this first blouse (similar here).

A PFG shirt is also a major necessity when you’re on or even near the water (did you know they made them for women). I’m so glad my husband talked me into getting one!

Woven accessories

I feel like this has always been a thing at the beach, but I am super excited to bring out the accessories in my day to day wear.

I love this bag from J. McLaughlin (they always have such cute woven bags), and these shoes also from J. McLaughlin.

A big woven hat like this (similar here) one is also big no matter where you live, but is especially perfect for the beach.

Matching sets

This is one trend I’m super excited, but I may not wear it myself. I love the matching suits so much, and if I worked in an office I’d be all about it, but the more casual outfits would make me feel like my mom is dressing me up. But I love it so much. I love these options I found on Shopbop.

I adore this light blue matching set with shorts. It would be perfect for Spring! (jacket and shorts)

And this set would be perfect for a night out at the beach! (top and bottoms)

Florals

I love flora and fauna, and it’s so perfect to wear for spring and summer. I have so many clothes from over the years that have floral prints, an it’s a major theme I implemented into my fashion week outfits.

I still love this sequin floral dress (similar here) I wore to fashion week. I can’t wait to wear it to an evening cocktail party this spring!

And this sheer top with the cropped tank underneath was adorable and so edgy.

Ruffles

I was all about the ruffled sleeves last year, and I’m so glad to see it returned. I’m excited to pick up some items with a ruffled neckline as well.

I picked this up from J. McLaughlin last year and I’m so excited to see it returned in white and blue!

And of course this favorite wrap top with the bell sleeves. It’s sold out but similar here!
